Blockchain and its application to accounting

Purpose: In recent years Bitcoin has revolutionized the financial world. Its birth was made possible thanks to an innovative combination of certain pre-existing technology in computer networks and cryptography, which led existence a transparent, reliable immutable record transactions, large shared ledger: Blockchain. Several studies analyse application or future Blockchain different industries. The accounting is one most debated, since it anticipated that its could change mission accountants even auditors. Therefore, main objective this work analyze existing literature on importance impact accounting.Design/methodology/approach: review blockchain carried out. Also we have analyzed triple entry so-called ledger, trying clarify some terminological confusion, faced what be technology.Findings: implies Blockchain, after technical improvement development, will involve important transformation traditional system, with consequent modification auditors.Originality/value: One contributions study for academic literature, being first accounting.
